It’s the Season of Peak Solar Radiation, Keep your System Cool with our Top Four Tips
This is one of the best times of year, as we welcome the introduction of more power in systems thanks to longer days.
Accompanying the long days, we also face long heat waves, protecting yourself and your system is important. If you’re overheating in your battery room then so is your system. The best recommendation for a long and healthy system is to keep your temps in check!
1. Our number one tip will always be containing your system in a temperature controlled room. This is the optimum way to make sure your system performs at its peak year round.
2. Understand the impact of heat on your system:
More heat = less efficiency, this can lead to overload or high temp shutdown. A couple of our Tech Tips have covered how heat can affect your system:
3. Be aware of the operating conditions affecting your system
Monitoring will give you a real-time insight into whats happening with your system.
Battery Monitoring
Victron SmartShunt 300A/50mV
The Victron SmartShunt is a powerful battery monitor with Bluetooth on board. It can be installed out of sight, behind the scenes – whilst live data from the device is relayed to your mobile phone or tablet via the VictronConnect App for Android or iOS or on your Mac and PC. The SmartShunt is a great alternative for a BMV battery monitor where a separate display isn’t required.
4. Take additional steps to protect your system:
Having extra solar controllers, AC coupled inverters and batteries in the system can help distribute the loads. Keeping track of all components and the environment can be integrated with your Ruuvi collection or Victron GX devices.
